Book recommendation! Avon has a crackerjack of a romance called “Annie's Wild Ride” by Alina Adams.... Not only couldn't I put it down, but I couldn't write for a day after I finished it. That's my kind of book.

In “Annie’s Wild Ride,” I learned a bit about airplanes, a bit about the accomplishments of women in the Air Force, and a bit about military life. I also got a good read that doesn’t have much of the dry humor implied in the intro, but has enough realism to make these two people real to me from cover-to-cover. I might not have laughed, but I certainly shed a sympathetic tear. I also want to add that it might be one of the most accurately named romances I have ever read.... I, for one, found it to be a book chalk full of enough emotion and personality to keep me reading way into the night.

Annie Wild Ride eBook Alina Adams
This is a fascinating book. How often does the reader get a chance to "see" inside the interworkings of a marriage. In good times and in a lot of bad. Alina Adams shows her vast talent here as she describes a romance between two highly motivated and brilliant Airforce pilots through the use of flashbacks. The chapters effortlessly and seamlessly move between the past and the present where Paul is desperately trying to safe his now ex-wife and their daughter after a plane crash. The flashbacks explain how they met, married, had a baby, faced challenges in their careers, and ultimately divorced.I really liked this couple. My favorite books of all time are the Anne of Green Gables stories....Paul and Annie reminded me of Anne and Gilbert. Both couples spent a lot of their time competing against one another, and the tension between the couples is tangible! I also love the movie Top Gun, so this book is right in my wheel house.
Paul was a difficult hero to like. He had feelings, he just struggled to show them...to admit weakness, to feel out of control. This ultimately ended their marriage, and as Annie remembers all the reasons she loves Paul during the course of this book, Paul also wrestles with demons and ultimately has to choose what is most important to him.
I loved this one.

Annie Wild Ride eBook Alina Adams Reviews
The book didn't start typical first of all, with the whole they meet, they attract, they can't keep off one another. I was cautious because it actually starts out with their divorce in the prologue. But then the action begins immediately with Anne and her daughter and with Paul breaking all the rules to get to them. The timeline goes back and forth from when they met, back to the present, then back in time so you get a full picture of Anne and Paul's personalities and their marriage and why they where there are. I found myself actually yelling at Paul at times and frowning at Anne's emotions when I knew that's how I'd probably react. You see! The characters so real and not just because their flawed but because it's not all about desire. Unfortunately after reading this book I really want to find a guy whose love is as fierce and heart wrenching for me as Paul's is for Anne. What a fantasy! It's the kind of love some of us look for and most of us, will never experience. Read this book!!
This book does for romance what Anatomy of a Murder did for mysteries. It takes apart a broken realtionship to see what went wrong, and gives you an intimate look inside why love is sometimes not enough, and why pride can hurt even the strongest relationship. Once the walls are down, though, and honesty comes in to cleanse the wounds, Annie and Paul are able to remember why they loved each other, and to build something even stronger than before.
This is the first book of Alina Adams I've read. I found the story to be a 4 star selection for me. For one who likes to read military life stories, it's great. Annie & Paul are both in the United States Air Force and in competition for everything they strive for. Paul is jealous of Annie and the things she accomplished. She was the first woman to achieve many of the accolades he wanted for himself. Paul's mother, on the other hand, was the same type of woman as Annie. She, too, had been in the Air Force, and had wanted many of the things Annie was achieving. Paul's mother tells Annie to "follow your dream". Paul was jealous of this. Paul didn't know how to express his love for Annie; he only knew how to disapprove of her. This wrecked their marriage and they divorced. Annie, however, wanted to know Paul's innermost thoughts and he didn't know how to respond to her except to be negative to her. Their daughter, Amelia (Ace), just wanted her folks back together. Annie and Amelia go off on a skiing trip. Annie is flying the plane that is taking them on their trip. It crashes and they are lost in the freezing weather. Paul goes through Hell and high water to find them, discovering what is really important in his life - Annie & Amelia. Annie is forced to realize what matters most to her is Paul & Amelia! All in all, it's a good story with a good story line. The moral of the story is that you need to give and take in a marriage, be honest with your mate, be proud of their achievements (not jealous) and let the other person grow in order to make it work!
I loved this book, but wouldn't recommend without first giving a strong warning. Not sure what that warning would be though. Not for the faint of heart or those that don't like flawed characters. NOT a light read, but a superbly crafted, well written novel. I both hated and loved Paul with equal fervor throughout and could understand Anne's wild ride. At one point I thought, ok, if this were the typical romance plot, it's time to get rid of Paul and bring in the good guy. But just like Anne, I held out hope. I'm glad I did. It certainly took him long enough and it's a good thing Annie had a strong threshold for pain.
I can't wait to see what Alina Adams has in store for the future. It can't come soon enough for me.
To use my own mere words to describe this book would be a gross injustice. It was asbsolutely perfect. I must admit picked up this book because it was on the RITA AWARD list but wasn't too thrilled with the premise. Reading about a relationship between a couple that had been divorced for years did not appeal to me. Afterall, how endearing, or romantic can a story be about two pilots whose marriage ended and had been over for several years. I was afraid it would deal with a romance gone sour and rekindled. I had no idea it would deal with a romance that needed no rekindling - it was an inferno that never died. How Adams manages to go back and forth from past to present without allowing the reader to lose the momentum is a sign of her phenomenal writing skills. Every transition is perfectly timed and pulls together the story in a way to keep you up until all hours to finish. Who could ever guess that the most heartfelt emotion would come from the hardest, tough guy - hero you will come across in fiction? This is a book you will not hestitate to pass on to your friends.
Such a good book. It is quite old but still a great read.
